Summer Sales Piano sales in the summer are usually slow so we are happy to report not only did we survive, we thrived! With kids being out of school, families are too busy keeping up with vacations and such; so purchasing a family piano goes on the back burner. We [...]

Pianos For Sale on Craigslist I (Michael) get about 4 calls a week from people asking questions about buying a used piano on craigslist. They often are looking at a specific piano on craigslist that they think is the best deal they will ever guess. They say things like “If I don’t buy this [...]

Competition – Ya we have that… Here at Stilwell Pianos we consider ourselves pretty lucky to be the only used piano store in Tempe. There are a couple music lessons studios that sell a piano or two but nothing like what we have. That does not mean there are not other piano [...]

Our used piano store in Arizona has been extremely busy since our last blog post! In January we sold around 25 used pianos and February about 23 used pianos. Since we started our other business The Vintage Piano Shop we have been selling a lot more used vintage pianos that have been refinished and restored to have that “shabby chic” look. Click on the link above to check out the new site and some of our more recent pianos! Here is a little pic of one:

Hopefully this will be the last blog I write as a childless Arizona piano store owner! My wife Laurie is 4 days over due (due date was Ocobcer 4th) and we are both very excited to meet our son. Since he is our first child, this is all new to us. As you can
imagine, I have been distracted at the shop lately… Since we didn’t know when he was coming I stopped the California trips and started buying used pianos in Arizona. The last thing I wanted was to miss the birth of my son because I was stuck in the middle of a move in California! Thanks to a great friend of mine, Levon Aslanyan (local piano technician) I was able to find a few great used baby grand pianos for sale in Arizona which has allowed me to stay in AZ since October 20th.
This weekend we sold two great baby grand pianos. The first was a Conover Cable Satin baby grand piano that we got from a seller in Fountain Hills just a couple weeks ago. The buyer was a very talented woman who recently move to Arizona from
Illinois with her boyfriend. She loved the way the Conover played/ looked and at the low price of $4,500, it was a no brainer! The second used baby grand piano we sold was to a couple in Scottsdale who used to live in Tempe right near our shop! The wife is a very talented pianist and has not had room for a grand piano until just recently. Since their lighting business has been growing and doing well, they thought it was time to invest some of that money into a beautiful high gloss black Hobart M. Cable used baby grand piano.
Because of the pending change in my life (Josiah Gregory Stilwell), I have been

Many of you know that Stilwell Pianos was actually started by my grandfather Ralph Stilwell in Decatur Illinois in 1956. By the time I got into the business, grandpa Ralph was already in a nursing home and unable to formally hand the business down to me. At this time, I [...]
