We get this question a lot more these days for some reason. If you have ever wondered what makes a piano sound bright or warm, watch this video I made on plate manufacturing. This is a huge factor that defines a higher end piano from a lower end one.
We get this question all the time and it always reminds us how small of a market the USA really is. I once heard a statistic that 80% of the pianos being made today are sold in Asia. That is a huge number! These days about 80% of the pianos made are made in China. This number has grown tremendously over the last 20 years as most manufacturers are moving their plants there to cut labor costs and to take advantage of a workforce with years of experience in piano manufacturing. This has lowered the price of pianos and has allowed families...
Pianos For Sale on Craigslist I (Michael) get about 4 calls a week from people asking questions about buying a used piano on craigslist. They often are looking at a specific piano on craigslist that they think is the best deal they will ever guess. They say things like “If I don’t buy this [...]

Our used piano store in Arizona has been extremely busy since our last blog post! In January we sold around 25 used pianos and February about 23 used pianos. Since we started our other business The Vintage Piano Shop we have been selling a lot more used vintage pianos that have been refinished and restored to have that “shabby chic” look. Click on the link above to check out the new site and some of our more recent pianos! Here is a little pic of one:
Buying Used Grand Pianos While My Wife Gives Birth
As my wife gets closer and closer to her due date, I was starting to worry that I would miss the birth. We have been getting our used baby grand pianos from California for about a year now and since we are growing, I am forced to go on these trips about every 10 days. For the past couple weeks or so I was worried that I would be out of town buying used baby grand pianos when my wife went into labor. Last week (the 19th) we got 4 used baby grand pianos from California and they all sold within about 5 days… This meant that I was going to have to turn around and go get more to make sure the shop was stocked for the beginning of October. She is due October 4th and I know I am not going to want to go get more pianos for a week or two after the baby is born.
God is Good!
Right after selling all the pianos this week, I started getting calls from people in Arizona who wanted to sell their piano. I have not bought locally for a while since I can usually get such good deals in California but I figured I would give it a try since it was going to keep me in town. It has only been 4 days and I have bought 3 used baby grand pianos in Arizona for the shop! They have all been extremely nice pianos and I could not have asked for better sellers. Since I threw my back out on our last California trip (long story)
I am very pleased to announce that we are now able to accept Visa, Master Card and Discover credit card payments for our used upright pianos in Arizona! We are also able to take debit cards and are willing to set up payment plans that fit your needs. This offer is only [...]
